Classes of 70, 71, & 72 Reunion
August 20, 2011

So how can you reminisce the past 40 years in 5 hours over dinner?  Apparently it’s impossible.  At least that is the observation of the 128 in attendance at Cross Creek for our Cranberry High School reunion Saturday, August 20th.  With the excitement growing, people began showing up earlier than 5:00 and immediately began hugging and talking with friends as soon as they arrived.  They had to be moved a couple times from the entry to the main dining hall just to let others get in.

While people were mingling, there were the senior pictures from the yearbook projected on screen so we could see how we all looked 40+ years ago.  During dinner, Time to Remember slides were being projected showing highlights from 70-72 such as income, cost of living, famous artists, music hits, sports events, etc.
There was a short formal program where we discussed business.  We gave out door prizes (thanks Doug), some Cranberry memorabilia, some gag gifts, some wine, and two hand-woven baskets from Judy Willett (thanks Judy).  By the way, somebody left their 2009 Cranberry T-shirt behind.  (No problem, we’ll just raffle it off again in 2016. That will teach you not to take it with you!)
We recognized significant events, i.e. latest grandparent or great grandparent, distance traveled, who registered first/last, etc.  The formal program ended with Gary showing some before-and-after photos of those present, previous reunions, and a special tribute to those classmates who have died. (Thank you to those who sent pictures.)  The final piece of business was that everyone agreed that we should do this again in 2016 and we would hold it again at Cross Creek.
The general consensus seemed to be that everyone had a great time and the evening ended too soon.  At 10:00 there were still lingerers not wanting to say good bye.  But all good things must come to an end.
Many thanks to the planning committee for another great reunion.  Thanks to Classes of 70 and 72 who added to not only numbers, but more memories.  We were worried whether we could break 100, we did with 128 (1970=23; 1917=75; 1972=30).  Thanks to all who came and contributed to the event being the success it was.
There is still some wrapping up to do, i.e. mailing out directories, photos, balance the books, and post the final comments and photos to the website which will be available a couple more months.  When all is complete, those of you with e-mail will receive a final report.
